FMF Juglaret's French Gammarus Yellow

FMF Juglaret's French Gammarus Yellow

NEW FOR 2026

Unlike most gammarus imitations, these three patterns are relatively heavy, allowing them to be fished effectively in deep or fast water.

Best suited to NZ-style or sight fishing, they truly excel when conditions allow for European-style nymphing.

FMF Juglaret's French Gammarus are available in three colours (Brown, Orange, Yellow), each designed for a specific set of conditions and 3 hook sizes: #14, #16, #18

Ideally, always choose the version whose colour most closely matches the riverbed.

Detailed description and concept:

Exceptional density for fast currents

Unlike most commercially available scud imitations that struggle to penetrate the surface, the Juglaret’s French Gammarus series stands out for its specifically engineered high-density weighting.
This enhanced mass allows the fly to descend quickly into the strike zone, even in deep or fast-flowing water, making it an essential tool for prospecting rapid runs while maintaining perfect drift control.

Excellence in Euro Nymphing and Sight Fishing

Though highly effective for sight fishing or New Zealand–style tandem rigs (under a dry fly), this pattern reveals its full potential in Euro Nymphing.
Its compact, hydrodynamic profile and precise balance make it an ideal point fly, ensuring:

  • reliable line tension,
  • steady contact with the bottom,
  • and a controlled, drag-free presentation.

Why the “Yellow” color?

Color selection is critical for achieving natural crustacean mimicry.
The Yellow version has been designed for three key environmental and biological conditions:

  • Bright substrates: perfect for limestone riverspale gravel, or sandy bottoms, where it remains visible yet unobtrusive.
  • Molting phase imitation: during molt cycles, scuds often display light yellow to amber hues, becoming highly vulnerable and attractive to trout and grayling.
  • Slightly stained water: provides a soft visual trigger that enhances detection without unnatural brightness.

Usage advice

Match your scud’s color to the substrate tone and water clarity of your fishing environment.
The Yellow model is the go-to choice for light riverbeds, offering both realistic camouflage and a gentle attractor effect when visibility decreases slightly.
