Tips for use
It is an easy to cast fly with 8 to 12 weight rods and floating lines, but also intermediate or sinking European sea bass/striper lines, but also cold water and tropical sinking lines.
The three colors (grey, blue and chartreuse) and the two sizes allow to cover efficiently the imitation of most of the small to medium-sized forage fish (sprats, sardines, mackerel, smelts, etc.) throughout the season and in all types of light.
Ideal for surface feeding frenzies situations.
Attach a looped knot to the end of the leader to improve its action (Perfection loop & Homer Rhode knots).
Ideally a fluorocarbon SW tip type Rio and SA from 12 to 20 lbs or associated with a shock tippet for toothy species (tuna, West African Spanish Mackerel, African red snapper, etc.)
The line should be retrieved rod tip underwater, with long pulls on the line, so as to make the fly glide.
Sometimes the two-handed “rolly polly” retrieve with the rod under the arm is the most effective way to trigger the attack of marine predators.
The strike is generally straightforward and violent.
