"The Elorn II” 8'2"#3/4 is an all–around trout fishing tool for small to medium-sized waters, 20 to 40 feet wide, which is the case for many trout rivers, not only here in Brittany but also in parts of France and elsewhere in Europe.
Short and accurate, its 8 foot 2 inches length is ideal in most situations found along wooded streams, where a longer rod could be unwieldy.

Description
“The Elorn II” 8'2"#3/4, named after a stream that rises right next door from my home and playground for many a guiding day after wild brown trout, is an all–around trout fishing tool for small to medium-sized waters, 20 to 40 feet wide, which is the case for many trout rivers, not only here in Brittany but also in parts of France and elsewhere in Europe.
Short and accurate, its 8 foot 2 inches length is ideal in most situations found along wooded streams, where a longer rod could be unwieldy.
The action is a bit deeper that on its namesake, the Elorn I, but line can still be brought out with a minimum of false casts to reach large, finicky fish that, once hooked, will display a multitude of tricks to throw the hook.
The blank has enough leverage and reserve power to keep control while protecting fine tippets down to 7X.

My advice
This allround short trout rod, like its sister, is best paired with weight-forward lines (WF or TT), and, of course, the Snowbee WF2-5TD XS-Plus Thistledown line. The blank loads very quickly and still can shoot line in a matter of few false casts, great feature in wild-brown trout country where any excess motion can send fish running. Great roll casting rod, it will come handy in smaller waters like the ones found here in Brittany for which it was designed.
Very lightweight, it accommodates a lightweight large arbor reel with a good drag.
The blank has the backbone to fish most local salmonid up to 5/6 lbs (rainbow trout, sea trout, grilse) but also specimen cyprinid species like chub and barbel.

Rod building
Blank: Graphite IM10.
Pieces: 4
Finish: anthracite, matte finish.
Handle: flor-grade Western cork (the best) plus ultra.
Winding Check: polymer and epoxy.
Reel seat: Up-locking anodized titanium smoke aluminum with burlwood insert.
Guides: super hard chrome snake guides (7) and tip top, 1 “Gold”-ceramic gunsmoke stripping guide.
Weight: 65 gr.
Weight tip section: 3 gr.
Accessories: petrol blue aluminium rod tube (77 cm) + marine blue divided Burlington polyester rod sock with double laces (made in Morlaix, Brittany).

The rod builder’s note
“Its deeper action sweetens this rod a bit compared to the somewhat racier Elorn I. It wants a 4-weight line, maybe even in DT persuasion in capable hands as it rolls line like a dream. The best of both worlds would be using the “little” Thistledown line by Snowbee, which has a very fine tip but loads of mass up the rear end of the belly for really nice single-handed Baby-Spey and switch casts.”
