Perdigons nymphs

Perdigons nymphs

Perdigons are part of the incentive nymphs that generate attack or feeding reactions in fish in response to a visual stimulus: shine, sparkle, intense colour zone (black, red, orange)

Very much in vogue for the past ten years or so, this nymph takes its name from the Spanish word perdigón, which means shotgun pellet.

This analogy comes from the evocative shape of the nymph and its smooth body.

Born of the imaginative spirit of Iberian fishermen in the early 2000s, its use has now become so widespread that almost all the trout on the planet must have come across perdigons in recent years!

Perdigons are characterised by a rather thin, conical and slick body, varnished with UV resin (application of UV light with a pen or a suitable lamp) and without a hairy thorax.

The body is generally made up of:
- Classic tying thread (especially for low-gloss models)
- Specific synthetic thread often rich in sparkling effects
- Tinsel (with a sub-body in tying thread)
-A thin strip to be cut from a sheet or pre-cut to be wrapped around a sub-body in tying thread (black by default),
- Trimmed peacock quill to be tied on a tying thread under body,

or a mix of these different materials! ... all of which can be ribbed with a copper wire, tinsel or any other tying thread material featuring a segmentation!

As their appearance indicates, these flies are ideal for imitating small and/or dense and/or flashy prey if the right materials are chosen.

They therefore reach their peak when:
-Miniaturisation is the order of the day to attract fish (for example, if trout feed on very small prey or when fishing for grayling, which sometimes requires presenting nymphs on size 20 hooks)

-It is necessary to break through strong currents (a slick body facilitates rapid immersion of the nymph, which finds itself closer to the bottom more quickly),

- Fish react to aggressive bright colours (many of the materials available for making perdigons are shiny and/or available in fluorescent colours that are good for making fish aggressive).
