Airflo is a European manufacturer of synthetic fly lines and leaders for all types of fly fishing, in freshwater rivers, lakes and reservoirs, as well as in saltwater, temperate and tropical waters.

Based in Wales, Airflo has been innovating for many years with its PVC-free products.

Here's what they say: "For nearly 70 years, most fly fishing lines have been made from PVC, a naturally rigid plastic that requires the use of plasticizers to be functional. These plasticizers are not an integral part of a PVC line. In fact, as soon as it is manufactured, a PVC line begins to degrade, releasing plasticizers into the environment and contaminating your health and the waters in which you fish. Once it has released a sufficient amount, it becomes susceptible to cracking and even breaking. As if that weren't enough, PVC is known to release dioxins, a group of deadly and bioaccumulative toxins, as it decomposes. This makes it virtually impossible to recycle a PVC line safely. That's why Airflo never uses PVC. Our lines are made from polyurethane, an inert, stable, fully recyclable material that requires no plasticizers and lasts much longer than PVC”.
