An essential dry fly for fishing lakes and reservoirs.
An imitation of a crane fly/daddy.
The ultra-realistic legs, wings and body mean that trout cannot resist it, especially when the surface of the water is wrinkled, or even animated by a nice wave.
A best seller. Sometimes it pays to change to a different colour fly if fish a failing to rise.
Dads Daddies are a hugely popular terrestrial pattern accounting for countless fish every year, mostly fished dry but equally as effective sub surface.
Tips for use:
To be used with a floating line (leader and/or floating polyleader) with a 0.25mm to 0.15mm tippet depending on conditions.
To be fished statically on moving fish, but also works by sliding/skating, but also under the surface, drowned, by retrieving it either slowly with a figure of eight motion, or pulling it in windier conditions.
Best periods: June to October.
