FMF Abortion Sparkler Black is a scaled down Mini Streamer, perfect when the imitative approach doesn't work.

Fished in conjunction with standard wet flies on either the point or top dropper they bring life to a cast of flies whilst maintaining stealth with their much smaller size

Tips for use
Sparklers are very light, unweighted mini lures (only the weight of the hook allows the fly to sink) designed to attract trout that have been recently introduced into reservoirs at the start of the season, but also overwintered fish at the end of the season that have seen every lure you can imagine.

Attach to the end of a long fluorocarbon leader of 0.15 mm to 0.22 mm depending on conditions, water clarity and fish size.

Very effective for long-distance fishing in ‘packs’ of trout swimming in the first 3/4 feet of the surface.

Expert advice
I recommend using a floating line or slow, medium or fast intermediate lines such as Airflo Sixth Sense 2.

Once the fly or fly set has been cast and the leader is taut, you can either let the fly do its job statically or retrieve it by knitting (figure of eight) more or less vigorously, keeping the tip of the rod under water for better strike detection.

For better strike detection, it is best to pair your intermediate line with tapered fluorocarbon leaders such as Airflo G5. For simplicity, a 2 mm micro ring can be placed at the end of the leader to easily change the tippet.

The FFMF Abortion Sparkler Black is also very effective for those who drift from a boat (Lough style) with a wet fly cast, placed on the point or as a top dropper (on the bob).

Several Sparklers can also be used on the same fly cast.
