Description
This is a nymphing rod by design, pure and simple and a race horse at that: made for all styles of nymphing – under the rod tip and at a distance, the very sensitive tip section lets the angler feel the subtlest of takes.
Whilst being long, 10’5”, its incredible light weight allows all day action without tiring. Since most rods serve more purposes, the Maxia Fast Water Dry & Nymph 10’5”#3 is also a very fine dry fly rod in faster waters. Perfect for lightning-quick hooksets, the added length giver great line and fly control. Being a great dry fly rod, it is also great for grayling fishing, including the wet fly swing.
The elaborate action gives great control over bigger fish without losing them on fine tippets.
For the record, the former World fly fishing champion (2018), David Garcia Ferreras, uses Maxia rods exclusively.

My advice
Very technical long and very lightweight rod for lightline work, under-the-rod-tip or distance nymph fishing with lightweight tippet, rocket science !
I have added a Maxia blank to my lineup because it allows me to have a truly exceptional rod in my quiver.
As a former competition angler 25 years ago I could only have dreamt of a rod like this one; quite close to the G.Loomis GLX rods in those days (those were the pinnacle back then) and very similar to my 2-piece 10-foot for a 4-weight line!

Here’s what this Spanish maker says about their products: “AML (Advanced Multilayer) techniques and the use of multi-modulus fibers, allow our MAXIA MX rods to have a highly compressed, concentric structure which gives the rods exceptional power and sensitivity”

The Maxia Fast Water Dry & Nymph 10’5”#3 by Brittany Fly Fishing has been fitted with RECOIL titanium guides only for a minimum of weight throughout the blank and comes with 2 tip sections.

The rod builder’s note
“Maxia rod blanks are super hi-tech : very lightweight, very sensitive, with a great action and the fact that top competitors are enamored with Maxia products should be endorsement enough. Give the blanks prime components like quasi-indestructible RECOIL guides, best cork available and a top-notch reel seat and you simply have a dream rod to be proud of. Try to match the rod with a fine-diameter floating fly line for dry fly work for unparalleled pleasure.”
