McPhail CDC Caenis Barbless

McPhail CDC Caenis Barbless

The anglers curse! Finally… A cure.
The Davie McPgail CDC Caenis perfectly imitates this tiny dry fly.

Who hasn't been frustrated while desperately looking in his box for a model that could imitate those micro mayflies that are Caenis & Brachycercus whose subimago is barely 4/5 mm long. The body colour of the subimago is cream (almost white), while that of the imago is black.

I have seen trout feasting on these insects on the surface of rivers, but also on the Drennec lake at dusk, where massive hatchings occur in August in some years.

With a good imitation, a long leader and a fine tip, it is possible to overcome the fisherman's curse, as the English call these insects so elegant with their oversized tails (up to 20 mm for the male, for a body of 4 mm max).
