The Bécassine Drennec WC™ wet flies are registered design patents patterns, the result of my experience fishing for wild and overwintered trout in lakes and reservoirs, especially on Lake Drennec in Finistère, where I have been guiding for nearly 30 years from the shore and “Lough Style” aboard my 19' Irish boat.
They are also the result of my fishing experiences on Irish lakes (Sheelin, Conn, Mask, Cullin, Carra, Melvin, etc.) and English reservoirs.
They all have a woodcock feather collar and mainly imitate lake olives, although they work very well in rivers, well greased to drift in the film, especially the #14 versions.
They can also imitate an emerging caddis fly.
Available in 4 versions and 3 hook sizes: #10, #12 & #14
Bécassine Drennec WC™ wet flies are handcrafted in France from the best natural materials available.
They are meticulously tied on the famous Tiemco 3761 SP-BL (Spear Point) wet fly hooks.
Instructions for use:
On floating, hover, slow intermediate or midge tip lines, as a point fly (#10 and #12) and on the dropper (#14).
Tippet diameters from 0.25mm to 0.12mm depending on the size of the models used, wind conditions, and the size/power of the fish you are targeting.
Methods:
1-Team of two or three versions to be fished slowly with a figure of eight retrieve under the surface and in the waves, rod tip just above the water to keep the imitations alive and vibrating. The flies should be spaced at least 1.50m apart, with droppers measuring approximately 20cm.
2-Well-greased point fly in a “washing line” with buzzers, crunchers, hoppers and/or small imitation nymphs on the drop.
3-Alone as an emerger, more or less greased, in lakes and rivers on rising fish, and for bild fishing in rivers along the edges.
4-Spring wet fly fishing ¾ downstream “on the swing” in rivers, during caddis and olives hatches, with a team of flies (droppers 10/12 cm max).
