The combination of a muddler head and mobile legs on this pattern make it very attractive to trout when pulled through the waves as a wake fly.
It is mostly fished dry (highly effective for lake evening hatch) but equally effective sub surface and produces violent attacks.
A pattern that can also be very effective in rivers for wild trout and works wonders when dragged in the evening for sea trout.
Tips for use:
To be used with a floating line (leader and/or floating polyleader) with a 0.22mm to 0.15mm tippet depending on conditions.
To be fished like a dry fly, but also works by sliding/skating, but also under the surface, drowned, by retrieving it either slowly with a figure of eight motion, or pulling it in windier conditions.
Best periods:
May to October.
