Florian's Alder Fly (Mouche de l'Aulne) AL

The Alder Fly (Mouche de l'Aulne) AL by Florian is a simple but effective imitation of Sialis lutaria, the Alder Fly, which appears on our rivers and lakes in May.

This insect from the Megaloptera family, which trout love, is often confused with a sedge/trichoptera, but its veined

black-greyish wings without hairs forming a rounded roof over the abdomen make it easy to distinguish.

Another species, Sialis fuliginosa, is found in whitewater and high-altitude streams.

They are both frequently on the menu for fish, and a specific imitation is always useful to have in your box.
